toctoc is a mobile application that allows you to make phone calls and send text messages to all other toctoc users for free! toctoc is available over WiFi or 3G. You can also call any number that doesn't have toctoc at low rates using toctocOut.

+Is my device supported?

toctoc is supported on most Android and iPhone.
You can download the app by going to the home page from a web browser on your phone. If your device is supported, you will be directed to the correct download page for your device. You can’t download toctoc on an unsupported device.

+Verifying your phone number in toctoc

If you are not able to verify your number, please be sure to check the following:

  1. You have the latest version of toctoc.
  2. You have entered your full international phone number.
  3. Your phone has full Internet access with a strong signal. Try opening a web page to make sure.
  4. Your phone is not roaming.
  5. Your phone can receive international SMS messages.
  6. You are not using an unsupported device.

After you enter your phone number an SMS will be delivered to your phone. The SMS will contain a 4-digit verification code, which you can enter on the verification screen in toctoc. The access code ensures that you are the real owner of the cellphone number you have registered and prevents others from obtaining your access code and placing calls with your caller ID.

+How do I know, who in my contacts has toctoc?

Your contacts, who have toctoc, are shown at the top of your Contacts. They also have pictures.

+How can I invite my friends to join toctoc?

In order to talk or chat with contacts on toctoc, everyone must have the toctoc application installed and activated on their phones. If some of your friends and family are not yet on toctoc you can send a toctoc invitation via sms to invite them to join in! If you choose the SMS option, standard SMS rates apply.

+How do I add contacts to Toctoc?

toctoc reads your contacts' phone numbers from your phone's address book and automatically adds them to toctoc. If you would like to add someone new to your list simply enter their name and number into your phone's address book, then refresh your contact list. Before you begin, please ensure your phone is connected to the internet with a strong signal.

+Profile in toctoc

Profile Picture The picture you set in your toctoc profile will be displayed in your chats. Even if your friends have different profile pictures of you saved on their phones. If you choose not to set a profile photo your friends will see a generic image.

Mood Tell your friends how is your mood today, they will display it through the color of the circle around your profile picture. They will always know if today it’s a good day for you!

Status The status message is what you are doing or thinking. You can set your status messages or choose a default status. Your friend's status message will be displayed directly below their name.

+How do I change my profile picture, name, status or mood?

To set your profile photo, name, status, mood:

+How can I call using toctoc?


There are three way to call using toctoc: toctoc call, out call and sip call.

Through toctoc call you can call any toctoc user using internet connection.

  • ANDROID
    Go to toctoc > Contact > choose a contact > tap on the orange button with the white phone icon
  • IPHONE
    Go to toctoc > Contact > choose a contact > tap on the "free call" orange button


Through toctoc Out call, you can call any number, even non-toctoc users and landline. In order to make a toctoc Out call, you need toctoc credits. To call Out:

  • ANDROID & IPHONE
    Go to toctoc > Contact > choose a contact > tap on the contact phone numer under "toctoc Out" section.
    Go to toctoc > Chats > choose a contact > tap on the phone number under "toctoc Out" section.


Through Sip call you can call any Sip address. To receive a Sip call you need a sip hosting. In order to make a sip call:

  • ANDROID
    Contact > choose a contact > tap on settings > tap Add SIP > write the sip addres of the contact > tap on the sip address under "Sip Hosting" section
  • IPHONE
    Contact > choose a contact > tap on settings > tap Add SIP > write the sip addres of the contact > tap on the sip address under "Sip Hosting" section


In order to register your Sip Hosting:

  • ANDROID
    Tap on top menu > tap on "sip hosting" > write an address (e.g. andrea@toctocapp.com)
  • IPHONE
    Settings > tap on "sip hosting" > write an address (e.g. andrea@toctocapp.com)

+How can I chat using toctoc?

  • ANDROID
    Go to toctoc > Contact > choose a contact > tap on the orange button with the white chat icon
    Or
    Go to toctoc > Chats > tap on the orange button with the white “plus” icon > choose the contact.
  • IPHONE
    Go to toctoc > Contact > choose a contact > tap on the “free chat” orange button.
    Or
    Go to toctoc > Chats > tap on “new message” icon in the top menu > choose a contact.

+Is it free to send messages and make calls over toctoc?

toctoc uses your phone's internet connection to send and receive messages and calls for free. As long as your phone is not roaming and you have not exceeded your data limit, toctoc should not cost you extra. We recommend that you use a Wi-Fi connection, if possible. You can also call any number that doesn't have toctoc at low rates using toctocOut.

+What is ToctocOut credit?

toctocOut credit lets you call non-toctoc mobile numbers and landline numbers at low rates. Purchasing credit takes place through the application and payment is made through your app store. To buy toctocOut credit:

iPHONE

  • Go to toctoc > settings > recharge
ANDROID
  • Go to toctoc > profile > recharge

Choose the credit amount you would like the purchase. The amount will be displayed in the currency set on your device. Transactions will be made in your currency. Follow the payment instructions displayed by your app store.

You can also buy Toctoc Out credits from the website. toctoc accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Paypal. Other alternative payment methods may be accepted depending on your location. All payments are processed through WorldPay and are completely secure.

+How can I see my credit?

You can see your credit in the recharge screen.

+Are my conversation secure?

All data sent through toctoc on its supported platforms are encrypted. Encrypted data refers to data that is taken in its original form and converted into code or other data in order to conceal the original content. Data encryption takes your messages and turns it into data that cannot be deciphered.

+What are those marks next to my messages?

Here is what each one indicates:

  • One check mark message successfully sent.
  • Two check marks message successfully delivered to the recipient's phone.
  • Eye icon read message.

+How can I hide my read receipt?

To hide the read receipt to a contact:

ANDROID

  • Go to toctoc > Contacts > choose a contact > Chat Options > switch off "send read receipt".
    Or
    Go to toctoc > Chats > choose a conversation and tap on the name > Chat Options > switch off "send read receipt".

IPHONE
  • Go to toctoc > Contacts> choose a contact > setting > switch off "send read receipt".
    Or
    Go to toctoc > Chats > Choose a conversation and tap on the name > switch off "send read receipt".

To hide the read receipt to everyone:

ANDROID
  • Go to toctoc > Settings> Chat options > switch off "send read receipt".

IPHONE
  • Go to toctoc > Settings> Notifications and sounds> switch off "send read receipt".

+What does last seen and online mean?

Online and last seen tell you if your contacts are online, or the last time they were using toctoc:

  • Online means that contact has toctoc open and is connected to the internet.
  • Last seen refers to the last time the contact used toctoc.

Please note you cannot hide your online status or your last seen.

+How do I recover deleted messages?

In the case that your chats are deleted or lost we cannot help you recover the messages because we do not store your toctoc conversation history in our system to protect your privacy.

+How do I block or unblock a contact?

Go to toctoc > contacts > contact profile > settings block incoming calls or block messages.

To unblock a contact, open the contact settings with the above steps then tap on Unblock.

+What happens when I block someone?

When you block people on toctoc, you will no longer receive toctoc messages or calls from them.

  • toctoc messages sent by a blocked contact will not show up on your phone and will never be delivered to you.
  • You will not be able to send messages to a blocked contact until you unblock them.
  • You will not be able to call a blocked contact until you unblock them.

Blocking someone will not remove this contact from your toctoc list. To delete a contact in toctoc, you must delete the contact from your phone's address book. Blocking a contact will not delete previous message and call history.
A blocked contact will never know if you are blocking them.
Unblocking a contact will not restore messages or calls they sent while they were blocked.

+How do I send photos?

You can send photos while chatting in toctoc:

Open the chat window on toctoc with the contact you would like to send the media item.
iPHONE
Tap on the camera icon located on the left side of the text box.
ANDROID
Tap on the attachment icon located on the right side of the text box.

Select the photo you would like to share or take a new photo with your phone's camera. You will have the option to preview and add a caption before sending the photo. On iOS 6 and later, you will need to grant the app permission to your iPhone's Photos.

Send an existing photo, you can tap Choose Existing on iPhone, Gallery on Android, to select one photo from your phone's Gallery. You will have the option to preview and add captions to your photos before sending them.

Note: There is a 16MB size limit for each photo you want to send.

You can also forward a message from one conversation to another. To send a message or media to another conversation:

  • Tap and hold on the message.
  • Tap forward.
  • Choose a conversation to forward the message or media to.

+How do I delete messages or chats?

Deleted messages are permanently deleted from your phone. You can delete individual messages, conversations, or your entire chat history by following these steps.

To delete a single message from a conversation:

  • Open the conversation.
  • Tap and hold on the message you want to delete.
  • Tap on delete.

To delete a conversation:

iPHONE
  • Go to the Chats section.
  • Slide your finger across the chat that you wish to delete, from right to left.
  • A Delete button will appear. Tap to delete.

ANDROID
  • In the main chats screen, tap and hold on the chat you wish to delete.
  • Tap Delete conversation in the menu.

To clear all chat history only iPHONE:

  • Open the conversation.
  • Scroll to the top of the conversation and tap Clear history.

+What is the remote deletion?


It is a special deletion: the message will be deleted in both devices, your and recipient's one. To do a remote deletion:

ANDROID

  • Go to toctoc > Chats > Conversation > choose a message > do a long press > select the messages you want to delete > tap on basket icon with the "x".

IPHONE
  • Go to toctoc > Chats > Conversation > choose a message > do a long press > tap on “More” > select the messages you want to delete > tap on basket icon with the "x".

+What is the secret chat?


A secret chat is a conversation with self destruct messages. You can set a timer (e.g. 10 sec) and every message sent or received will disappear both in your device and recipient’s device. Timer starts from the moment the message is displayed on your screen (gets one checks). To be sure that your messages are read before they're deleted make sure that your contact is online.

ANDROID & IPHONE

  • Go to toctoc > Chats > Conversation > tap the timer icon on the toolbar above the text input.

To set or change self destruct timer:

  • Go to toctoc > Chats > Conversation > tap on setting > choose "set timer".

+Can I save an image or video in a secret chat?

Every message sent through secret chat is encrypted, so all media received will disappear when the timer ends. Meanwhile images and videos sent by you will be saved in toctoc gallery and in your smartphone gallery.

+Can I use toctoc on two devices?

Yes. You will receive calls and messages on both devices and your conversations will be always synchronized.

+How can I change my toctoc phone number?

Your toctoc account can only be verified with one number, on one device. If you have a dual SIM phone, please note that you still must choose one number to verify with toctoc. There is no option to have a toctoc account with two phone numbers.If you verify a new number with toctoc your old account data will not migrate over to the new account.

+Can I archive a conversation without delete it?

Yes. You can store a conversation to maintain clean the memory guaranteing a faster usage. To store a conversation:

ANDROID & IPHONE

  • Go to toctoc > Chats > conversation > Setting >store conversation.

If you want to recover your messages just to tap on “load earlier messages” inside the conversation.

+How can I send my conversation via email?

ANDROID & IPHONE

  • Go to toctoc > Chats > choose a conversation > Settings > tap on "send conversation via email".

+Why does toctoc use my phone number and my address book?

We ask for your phone number because that is how toctoc routes chat messages and calls between you and your contacts. toctoc looks at the phone numbers in your address book, then checks to see which of those numbers are verified in toctoc. This allows any toctoc users from your address book to appear as toctoc’s contact in your contacts screen.

+Why can't I send or receive messages and calls on toctoc?

If you are absolutely sure toctoc is connected to the internet, there are a few other possible reasons why toctoc doesn’t work:

  • Your phone has bad internet connection.
  • The contact you are messaging or calling has blocked your number.
  • The number of the contact you are trying to message or call on toctoc has not been entered correctly on your phone.
  • You have recently switched SIM cards on that phone. toctoc only works on one number per device.

+Why can't I connect to toctoc?

You may be unable connect to toctoc. Connections issues can be resolved by doing the following troubleshooting:

  • Confirm you are using the latest version of toctoc.
  • Restart your phone.
  • Turn Airplane Mode ON then OFF.
  • Reset Network Settings (This will delete all your saved Wi-Fi passwords).
  • Delete Toctoc and reinstall.

+How can I tell if someone has blocked me on toctoc?

Any messages sent to a contact who has blocked you will always show one check mark and never show a second check mark.

Any call to a contact who has blocked you will always fail.

We cannot tell you if you are being blocked by someone else.

+How do I delete a contact?

The contacts that you see in toctoc come from your address book. There is no way to directly delete a contact. To delete a contact from the toctoc contact list, you will need to delete the contact from your phone's address book. Then, refresh your toctoc contact list.
